05: Try Linux

Most Linux OSes will have a Try Feature. Everything is running off your computer’s memory, and the thumb drive. This will allow you to see if everything is working properly in the Linux environment, and make sure you are comfortable with the learning curve that you would have to assume for. No change will be permanent. This means if you logged into your home’s Wifi? network, and needed to reboot for any reason, you would have to enter your wifi credentials again. This will not be the case after your install your OS?.

Browse around, and go through the important things. Most Linux OSes uses a Windows Like environment to make the learning curve relatively easier, however even if you picked one that doesn’t use that particular GUI, you should have little problems with the OS. If it is too much for you, then no worries, you haven’t made any changes to your computers storage drive, and everything is running in memory. Look for another option, and try that. If you have to try another distribution, then start over from Step 1, and work your way back to Step 5.
